Maybe Lindsay’s most notorious drawing, for the depiction of the protagonist’s exposed breasts was nearly too much for the general audience and was removed from the Melbourne art show in which it debuted. In a brave, pro-boob move, the president of the Society of Artists threatened to remove every single one of the 100 entries from the exhibit until The Crucified Venus was allowed back into the show. It actually was.
